Every number on this page is a session peak, not a daily average: the strongest gust the shore station measured inside the fixed Pelér and Ora windows. Desenzano publishes mean wind only, so its gust column is the peak of the mean wind and reads lower than a true gust would; that station is ARPAV Castelnuovo del Garda, 18.4 km inland from the town, which is why the row is headed Desenzano (Castelnuovo).

Session wind is the number the forecast is judged against: halfway between the strongest gust and the peak mean wind, which is closer to what the session actually felt like than a single gust spike.

The frozen forecast is the band the app displayed for that session before the day began: the on-water (mid-lake) wind, not a shore prediction, so it normally reads a few knots above the shore station that verifies it. Brezza freezes it twice, around 21:00 the evening before and around 05:00 that morning; this page shows the morning freeze. A dash on days before 5 August 2026 means the displayed band was not being archived yet.

Our shore forecast is the same frozen model run as the band beside it, stopped before the step that lifts it onto the mid-lake scale: the like-for-like number the station itself verifies. Both are built the same way, from the session mean wind up to the gust that tops it, so the shore band always sits at or below the on-water one. Open water carries more wind than any shore anemometer reads.

A number followed by a small sample count (for example 3/9) means the shore station only reported that many times inside the session window. A session peak is the highest of those samples, so a thin count almost always reads LOWER than the session really was, and the forecast beside it will look worse than it was. A full window prints no count at all.

Forecast 48h → 3h shows the on-water band Brezza froze 48, 24, 12, 6 and 3 hours before the session window, oldest to newest. A dash means that freeze was not captured: archiving began on 20 August 2026, and at 48 hours the weather models run at the edge of their range. Chips from 9 September 2026 are built from the same multi-model blend as the frozen band beside them; earlier chips came from the single local model, so read those against themselves, as how the call moved, rather than against that band.
